RESUMEN:

El problema científico de esta investigación esta en la necesidad de llenar el vacío de conocimiento existente en los trabajadores de la salud sobre el enfoque de género como referente contemporáneo imprescindible para la intervención en la atención integral a la mujer. Se realizó un estudio de intervención, de propuesta curricular, para diseñar un programa de capacitación sobre mujer y género dirigido a los profesionales de la salud, en la República de Namibia durante el período 2007 – 2008. La información necesaria para dar cumplimiento a los objetivos se obtuvo de fuente secundaria a través de una revisión bibliográfica exhaustiva, además de la experiencia acumulada por la autora y la experticia de la tutora. Los presupuestos metodológicos tuvieron como base la concepción metodológica dialéctica, método de investigación acción participativa, y transversal izándose de género. Como estrategia docente se consideró la duración del curso de 40 horas, la modalidad responderá a las necesidades educativas de los cursitas, cada grupo estará integrado por 40 alumnos y se tendrá en cuenta para la integración la equidad de sexos., se podrá repetir hasta seis veces en el ano. El curso se organizó en talleres de dinámica de grupos. Se desarrollaron los temas proceso de construcción, socialización, marco referencial e identidad de género, construcción de estereotipos masculinos, roles, acceso y control de los recursos y violencia de género. La actualidad de la investigación esta en que se aborda el binomio mujer-salud desde una concepción moderna, renovada y más humanista, desde la teoría de género.

"La mortalidad y morbilidad en las mujeres por razones de su género es mucho mayor que las atribuibles a largas y penosas enfermedades, es un problema de Salud Pública que sus profesionales tienen que resolver".
